The 2021 sessions each last one week (5 days).

Pricing per week-long class is $225 for our Opti and FJ camps.

The weekly schedule is:
Camp A: Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 3:00PM
Camp B: Monday through Friday 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Lunch is not provided, but time is allotted for lunch, and students are asked to bring their own lunch and water for their lunch break.

Please decide which Class Level and Camp schedule you wish to participate in. Fill out the online registration form and send a check made payable to Sail Kingston Cove, as soon as possible.

With the sign-up process based on a first-come, first-served basis, the sooner the registration form is submitted, the more likely you will receive a confirmation and get your first choice of class schedules.



In addition to our normal camp times starting at 9:00 AM and ending at 3:00 PM, we also are offering additional camps starting at 11:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM in order to stagger our start times and allow more children to attend. We hope you will consider both camp times when selecting your preference, and be understanding if we can not offer you your first choice.

Ages 5-7 An Introductory class to get young sailors comfortable around the water. Camp for these youngsters is from 9:00am until 12:00pm.

Kids will learn how to put on their life jackets, tie knots, learn about boats, safety on and off the water, play games, and get comfortable around the dock. Students will enjoy boat rides, a beach day, and learn about marine life and the boating community. Limited to six youngsters per camp.

Ages 8-12 This camp teaches the basics of rigging, sail and tiller control, and how to handle the equipment.

This year the summer camps will be limited to one child to a boat unless parents mutually sign partner approval forms.

This puts kids in the drivers seat of their own sailboat, with the main focus of this repeatable camp being the development of basic skills for a strong sailing foundation.

By the end of the camp most sailors will be able to put together an Opti and have some control of the boat in a light breeze.

No experience necessary. Swim check required in Personal Flotation Device(PFD).

Ages 8-12 A good fit for sailors who are familiar with all topics introduced in Youth Beginner, this camp draws on what beginning sailors already know and introduces increasingly advanced concepts.

The goal by the end of camp is to have all sailors comfortable sailing upwind and downwind in medium breeze, tacking, gybing and ready to check-out an Opti in Open Boating.

Prerequisite: Youth Beginner (or equivalent). Swim Check in Personal Flotation Device(PFD) required.

FJ CAMPS: These are double handed sail boats that present difficulty in meeting the social distancing requirements. If you have siblings that wish to participate in our FJ camps this is not an issue. If your child and a close friend have been in contact during this time and both sets of parents agree to their participation together in the FJ Camp we have no objection.

Ages 13 & Over This camp is for brand-new sailors or those transitioning out of Optis. It is taught in multi-handed boats that require teamwork to sail.

Alongside the development of basic sailing skills, the main focus of this repeatable camp are cooperation and team building.

Sailors will build these useful sailing (and life!) skills through activities both on and off the water.

Participants are encouraged to enjoy themselves and improve their sailing in a social environment.

Class will be taught in Flying Juniors. No experience necessary. Swim check in Personal Flotation Device(PFD) required.


Our FJ camps will be offered late July and/or beginning August. FJ Camps are two person boats.

Teen Intermediate is a good fit for sailors who are comfortably at a beginner level and are excited to build their sailing and teamwork skills in a challenging double-handed boat (the Flying Junior).

Ages 13 & Over

Ages 8-13 Opti Race Camp is open for students from previous year(s) classes that have progressed in skill level through the intermediate level. This camp may also include opportunities to sail FJ’s depending on conditions.

It is unclear if youth summer sailing regattas will occur this year due to the pandemic, however students in this camp will be ready to represent Kingston nonetheless. Updates about racing opportunities to come.

In this camp students will refine sailing techniques in a racing context and learn the rules of small craft sailing regattas. They will begin to be aware of the environment surrounding the boat as sailing it becomes second nature.

Participants must be able to sail an Opti, or equivalent boat, successfully upwind and downwind, in breeze up to 10 knots, and tack and gybe correctly.

This camp may also include opportunities to sail FJ’s depending on conditions.

Prerequisite: Youth Intermediate (or equivalent). Ages 8-13.
