Sail Kingston Cove is a non-profit corporation formed in 2015. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to assuring the program lives up to it’s mission and goals. Overseeing our operations is our Executive Director who has been with us since 2015. In addition to our volunteer Board members, many parents help us each year with special events and fund raisers. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us. We welcome everyone to join in our mission.
Over those years, we taught more than 1,200 kids how to sail. We receive unwavering support from the Port of Kingston, and the Kingston Cove Yacht Club.
At all times, Sail Kingston Cove has at a minimum one fully certified instructor on duty during all sailing camps offered by Sail Kingston Cove. We are always open to anyone 16 years or older to join our program, and work towards full certification as an instructor, and be a part of our sailing community. Sail Kingston Cove provides an opportunity for our instructors to qualify for a Level 1 sailing certification, administered by US Sailing. Once completed, these instructors are encouraged to continue with Sail Kingston Cove to their 18th birthday, at which time they will be fully certified as a small boat instructor.
Located at the Port of Kingston, Sail Kingston Cove operates off a float provided by the Port of Kingston, adjacent to A dock.
You can email us at sailkingstoncove@gmail.com or phone our Executive Director at 360-860-2238. Sail Kingston Cove has a social media presence we encourage you to visit. Visit our Facebook page for a listing of current activities, and share your views.
This camp is for brand new sailors or those transitioning out of Opti's. It is taught in multi-handed boats that require teamwork to sail.
Alongside the developement of basic sailing skills, the main focus of this camp is cooperation and team building. Sailors will learn these useful sailing and life skills through activities both on and off the water.
No experience necessary. Swim check in Personal Flotation Device (PFD) required.
5 Day Camps 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM $325.00
Teen Intermediate is a good fit for sailors who are comfortable at a beginner level and are excited to build their sailing and teamwork skills in a challenging double-handed boat (the Flying Junior).
The goal by the end of camp is to have all sailors comfortable sailing upwind and downwind in medium breeze, and ready to check-out an FJ in Open Boating.
Once graduating from this class, teens are encouraged to join our spring and fall "Kraken" sailing club, preparing these sailors to participate in competitive sailing regattas all around western Washington. Krakens prepare teens to compete in college based sailing programs, where standout sailors may be eligible for scholarships.
Prerequisite: Completion of Teen Beginner (or equivalent). Swim check in Personal Flotation Device (PFD) required.
